Another 50,000 tonnes of non-basmati parboiled rice is being imported from India. This will cost 21.238 million US dollars, or 259.11 million taka in Bangladeshi currency. India’s Bagadia Brothers Private Limited will supply this rice. The price of rice per ton has been fixed at 424.77 US dollars.

The Government Procurement Advisory Council Committee approved the proposal in this regard to increase the country’s food stocks on Thursday. Financial Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed presided over the meeting held at the Secretariat. Two weeks ago, on March 14, the procurement committee had also approved a proposal to import 50,000 tonnes of non-basmati parboiled rice from India’s S Pattavi Agro Foods Private Limited.
